My doctor has ordered a test, what is next?

 

As Health Plus we have procedures in place to ensure you receive your results in a timely manner. You can obtain a copy of our latest policy here for more detail.

Test results are generally available within one week being performed; however, certain test results may take considerably longer. You can clarify the timing of results with the test provider.

In order to enable us to maintain a high standard of medical care as well as ensuring patient confidentiality, you must make a booking in order to discuss your results with your doctor. If your test results are abnormal and it is an urgent matter, your doctor will contact you in person to discuss these issues with you.

Please note that sometimes, your doctor may be away or unwell. If you had tests or medical imaging done and you have not been advised about the result or have not yet scheduled a follow-up appointment with your doctor, please contact our reception team to arrange an appointment with one of our other doctors who can go through your results with you.

What can you do to help?
  • Please ensure your contact details with us are up-to-date.
  • If you receive a referral for a test, please book a follow-up appointment to review the results. If once you speak with the test provider the results may take longer than expected, please call reception and they will reschedule your results appointment.
